Corn Starch is a versatile ingredient in bath and body formulations. In bath bombs it helps slow down the fizzing reaction, creating a smoother, longer-lasting experience. In body powders, it absorbs moisture and provides a silky feel, making it a great natural alternative to talc.
In contrast to Tapioca starch, Cornstarch should not be frozen as freezing will break down the gelatinized starch matrix and the mixture will become thin after thawing.
INCI: Zea Mays (Corn) Starch
Cornstarch is not recommended for use in the vaginal area, as it can cause irritation.
Substitute: Arrowroot powder has similar qualities and can replace Cornstarch on a 1:1 ratio
Storage: Because cornstarch absorbs moisture, it is critical to keep it in an airtight container where it will not be exposed to ambient humidity. Store in a sealed container and in a cool, dry place. When stored properly, cornstarch will last indefinitely.
