We recommend that no more than 0.2% of any essential oil be added to our cosmetic bases. Exceeding this amount may destabilize bonds between the ingredients.
Over time this may cause our bases to lose some of their luxurious properties including viscosity, smooth feel and rate of absorption.

Please note that the lotion base recipe has been changed and is now thicker than it was in previous years. If you have difficulty getting it out of the bottles it's sold in, gently heat the bottles by placing them in a warm water bath. Do not use a hot surface.

Our lotion base is made fresh bi-monthly. It contains Optiphen Plus as a preservative (less than 1%) vegetable glycerin, shea butter, cocoa butter, spring water and vegetable emulsifying waxes. Our lotion base contains no SLS (harsh detergents), no petroleum products, no parabens and no animal products/animal byproducts. WE DO NOT TEST ON ANIMALS. Our emollient Lotion Base can be reheated to approximately 120F to ensure ease of incorporation of additional materials, such as vegetable and nut oils, colourants, fragrances or texturing agents. Use a stick blender to ensure proper incorporation of additives. Slight heating will enable an easier "pour" into your bottles or jars. A zip lock bag can also be used as a "pastry" bag to make dispensing easier.

Many companies add carbomers to their lotions for a better feel. This is a petrochemical product. It can cause skin sensitivities, thus the reason for not adding it to our base.
