Propylene Glycol USP Kosher

Suppliers have received a force majeure due to unforeseeable fulfillment circumstances. We were able to procure some from another of our reliable suppliers.  Prices have gone up, but not as much as one supplier warned yet.

It is used as a humectant and emulsifier in the production of food and personal care products and in liquid laundry detergents. Propylene glycol USP, Kosher is a high purity product, which meets all the requirements of the current United States Pharmacopoeia and various other regulations and standards for pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic additives. As a result of its low vapour pressure, low toxicity, low flammability, and high purity.

We have a price increase since April 2021 due to increasing prices to us.

INCI: Propylene Glycol

Propylene Glycol (PG) USP/EP is a pharmaceutical grade of Monopropylene Glycols (PG or MPG) with a specified purity greater than 99.8%.

PG USP/EP is tested for compliance with specifications of:

• United States Pharmacopoeia (USP)
• European Pharmacopoeia (EP)
• Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP)
• Food Chemical Codex (FCC)

It also complies with:

Brazilian Pharmacopoeia (FB)

• other pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food regulations in the global markets where it is sold

It is listed by the Personal Care Products Council as an approved ingredient in cosmetics, and its use is reviewed by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR). PG USP/EP is kosher and complies with Halal requirements.

PG USP/EP is an important ingredient for a multitude of uses, including:

• Ingredient in the compounding of citrus and other emulsified flavours
• Solvent in elixirs and pharmaceutical preparations
• Solvent and coupling agent in the formulation of sunscreen, lotion, shampoos, shaving creams and other similar products
• Emulsifier in cosmetic and pharmaceutical creams
• Ingredient for low-temperature heat-transfer fluids involving indirect food contact, such as brewing and dairy uses, as well as refrigerated grocery display cases
• Very effective humectant, preservative and stabilizer in semi-moist pet food (except for cat food), bakery goods, food flavourings and salad dressings
