Silica Dimethyl Silylate Powder

Hydrophobic fumed silica that thickens oils and polyols and suspends particles in oils. Also provides thickening properties in the presence of polar solvents (e.g. dipropylene glycol, triethyl citrate or propylene carbonate). Forms transparent gels in oils (e.g. mineral oil, castor oil, plant oils).

WARNING: The powder is very fluffy and light, always wear a proper face mask when working with this product.

Use

Add to oil phase of all emulsion types or just to oils to create oil-gels. Typical use level 0.1 - 30% (oil-gel formation usually occurs upon addition of 5-10%). For external use only.

Applications: Hair care products (e.g. dry shampoos), skin care products, colour cosmetics e.g. makeup & powders.

Silica Dimethyl Silylate is safe for use in cosmetics and personal care products. It is also suitable for all skin types. However, a patch test is recommended prior to full usage for people with highly sensitive skin. Further, Silica Dimethyl Silylate has no known risks for usage during pregnancy.
