Geogard ECT is a unique, patent-pending combination of benzyl alcohol, salicylic acid, glycerin and sorbic acid, which are well accepted in a wide range of personal care products. The novel composition of this antimicrobial blend offers a low cost in use as well as broad-spectrum protection in a diverse range of products against Gram-positive & Gram-negative bacteria, yeast and molds at wide pH ranges. Geogard ECT has a wide range of global regulatory acceptance for personal care products. Also referred to as Preservative Eco.
Meets the COSMOS and ECOCERT standards. It also has a low odour profile making it the ideal choice for fragrance-free and fragrance-sensitive systems.

Composition of Ingredients

    • Benzyl Alcohol: 86%
    • Salicylic Acid: 15%
    • Glycerol (Glycerin): 6%
    • Hexa-2, 4-dienoic (Sorbic) Acid: 4%
  • Broad spectrum activity on bacteria, yeast and molds
  • Has a wide range of global regulatory acceptance
  • Water-soluble (can be problematic in toner products)
  • Low odour and colour
  • Wide pH compatibility: (pH 3 – 8) make sure your finished formulas are within the pH range for the efficacy of your preservative. Use a PH meter.
  • All the ingredients are approved for use in the US, Europe* and Japan at the recommended use level (0.6-1.0%)

Recommended Use Level: 0.6–1.0%

  • Specific Gravity: 1.018 - 1.118 @ 25°C
  • Appearance: Clear, colourless to straw liquid
  • For emulsified systems, Geogard ECT preservative can be easily integrated post-emulsification at temperatures BELOW 45°C
  • We recommend that you test all new or altered formulations to guarantee proper preservation.

Absolutely Amazing!

I was struggling to find a natural preservative to use in my face masks because I was having a lot of issues with molding of my clay face masks and I found GEOGARD ECT and it works amazing. No scent not issues and a small amount goes a long way to preserve the products. So happy with this product and the company shipped fast, no issues with receiving product. Will be buy this again for sure!

With having a small skin care line that I manufacture I found geogard ECT as a incredibly versatile and cost-effective preservative as you all can use it in amount as low as. .5% total volume. The pH is incredibly broad so you don’t have to worry about it potentially falling out of protection if you’re product has dropped to low into the acidic rang or too high into the alkaline range it mixes incredibly easy it doesn’t really have an odour and it has some extra skin softening benefits so for me it’s my go to now just to prevent any potential mould or mildew formation on my products which I’ve tried to keep as clean and natural as possible

Geogard ECT vs Germall Plus

It's a great choice for those with sensitive skin. In comparison to Germall Plus this is definitely a better choice. The downside is it reduces the PH of your product by half and has a very strong smell to it that will affect the smell of the product.
