Balsam Fir Essential Oil is steam distilled from the aromatic green needles and twigs of the Abies balsamea evergreen tree growing in northeastern Canada. The oil has a distinctively woodsy, balsamic, evergreen aroma and a very light, clean top note reminiscent of freshly crushed fir needles.
The Balsam Fir is a native evergreen conifer well-adapted to the cold climates of the northern United States and Canada. Its symmetrical spire-like crown, shining dark green color, and sweet turpentine fragrance created by the abundant resin in its bark and needles have made it a favorite Christmas tree for hundreds of years. The branches are also popular in holiday wreaths and other greenery. In the landscape, this fir is used as a specimen as well as part of a screen or windbreak.
