Our lotion base is made fresh bi-monthly. It contains Optiphen Plus as a preservative (less than 1%) vegetable glycerin, shea butter, cocoa butter, spring water and vegetable emulsifying waxes. Our lotion base contains no SLS (harsh detergents), no petroleum products, no parabens and no animal products/animal byproducts. WE DO NOT TEST ON ANIMALS. Our emollient Lotion Base can be reheated to approximately 120F to ensure ease of incorporation of additional materials, such as vegetable and nut oils, colourants, fragrances or texturing agents. Use a stick blender to ensure proper incorporation of additives. Slight heating will enable an easier "pour" into your bottles or jars. A zip lock bag can also be used as a "pastry" bag to make dispensing easier.
Many companies add carbomers to their lotions for a better feel. This is a petrochemical product. It can cause skin sensitivities, thus the reason for not adding it to our base.
I have been purchasing the lotion base from Soap and More for about 20 years and it is consistently the best lotion base I have ever used. All of my customers rave about it. It is the most beautiful base to work with for so many different kinds of lotions. If you haven’t tried it, I strongly suggest you do. Soap & More has always been my number one place to shop for all my all natural ingredients, and it’s so nice to be able to support a local business instead of going online and ordering from some random company from some random country. 🇨🇦 ♥️
Lotion Base with Butter Intensive
I really enjoy this lotion base. I was concerned with the max 0.5% essential oil requirement, and my first batch I used about 0.2% and it was maybe too strong (used nutcracker essential oil and lavender about 50:50). I followed suggestion of mixing with immersion blender, but not sure that was necessary. It was an amazing blend though and feels great.
I also made a citrusy blend with lemon, lemongrass, and neroli. In this blend I added a touch of vitamin e oil, rosehip seed oil, and sacha inchi seed oil. It was also quite perfect.
My most recent mix was a rose-frankincense face cream. In addition to essential oils, I added evening primrose oil, rosehip seed oil, vitamin e oil, and sacha inchi seed oil. Mixed in a bowl with a spatula, which mixed well together. I absolutely love the feel and smell of this one.
Thanks Jessica, blending with your own spin is the best thing ever!
I love this lotion. It's not too heavy, it's creamy and perfect.
