We have collaborated with Breaking the Mold in Calgary to bring in D&C violet. It is inorganic, FDA-approved, high-purity dye. Violet no. 2 is in compliance with EU, Japanese and Chinese regulations. Miscible in water and oils. Deep purple powder.
D&C Violet 2 helps reduce helps brighten grey hair & helps reduce brassiness in blondes.
It is not suitable for high PH products like soap.
Usage Rate: 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon of dye per kilo of sodium bicarbonate, depending on how deep you would like the colour of water to be.
INCI: CI 60730 (violet no. 2)
Use: Usual concentration 0.01 - 1%. External use only.
Applications: Colour cosmetics (except lip and eye care products), hair care products, skin care products, bath bombs, bath salts, shampoo bars.
Country of Origin: China
Manufacture: Violet No. 2 is a synthetic dye produced from 9,10-anthraquinone. The dye is then combined with a salt to create a stable pigment (lake).
Animal Testing: Not animal tested
GMO free (does not contain plant-derived components)
Vegan: Does not contain animal-derived components
Always wear gloves, as water-soluble dyes are very concentrated and therefore easily stain skin. A mask is also recommended.
Water-soluble dyes can be "bloomed" before adding to dry ingredients. To do this, add a small amount of dye to just enough water or witch hazel to dissolve the dye powder. You may need to stir to fully dissolve the dye. Pour the dissolved dye into your baking soda and mix thoroughly until evenly coloured.
Created a DIY purple shampoo for my mom. A nice purple shampoo that reduces the yellowing in grey, and leaves the grey colour shine and pretty.
Thanks Patricia, we appreciate that you took the time to provide such great reviews. Stay well.
